Renditions no. 100 (Spring 2024)

Final Issue

Renditions no. 100 marks the ultimate edition of the journal after fifty full years of its publication. A valedictory issue, the 300-page volume comprises an extensive collection of pieces from the Song to the 21st century. Highlights include an anthropomorphic biography by Su Shi, an excerpt from Yuan Yuling’s fiction Forgotten Tales of the Sui, and contemporary song lyrics by the Chinese rock band Omnipotent Youth Society. Many of the pieces have been skilfully rendered into English by translators who have supported the journal over the years. This issue encapsulates the journal’s work in the last half-century and celebrates its enduring role in literary communication between the East and West.
